Can you sell it in China cross-border?
Describe one product. We read it against China's own rules: the customs list of what shoppers may import, the tax, the bans by country and what Tmall Global, JD, Douyin and Xiaohongshu ask of you. You get a verdict, the tax on one unit, the steps and the costs.

One product, read against China's own rules
Cross-border, not general trade
Cross-border retail import lets a company outside China sell to Chinese shoppers with no Chinese entity, import licence or product registration, as long as the product is on the customs list and each shopper stays under 26,000 yuan a year. Everything else needs general trade.
Read in Chinese
Every rule comes from the Chinese original: the Ministry of Finance list, customs announcements, the animal disease table, the tax circulars and the platforms' own rule centres. The report links each one.
A guide, not a ruling
The rules were last checked on 25 October 2026. Customs decide on your exact tariff line and platforms change their fees, so confirm both with your service provider before you ship.
Two ways into China
- Your company abroad sells, with no Chinese entity.
- No import licence, no product registration.
- The pack keeps the label of its origin country.
- Only for products on the positive list.
- Each shopper is capped at 26,000 yuan a year.
- A Chinese importer brings the goods in.
- Chinese labels on every pack.
- Registration before sale, for many products.
- The route for anything off the positive list.
The check tells you which one your product takes.
